Scholl Orchards is a family business, owned and operated by George and Faith Scholl, with the active involvement of sons Ben and Jake and daughters Martha and Emily.
We have been selling our fruit directly to the public since 1948. The first trees were actually planted on the property in 1930 by George's great uncle and aunt, Harry and Mary Nonnemaker.
Reginald and June Scholl (George's parents) began helping Harry, and moved onto the property in 1948, not long after World War II.
That year, June and Reginald set up a retail farm table on Center Street selling apples and cider. By 1952, that humble table was bubbling over with
fresh fruit, and a small shed was built to replace it.
In 1968, George and Faith assumed the responsibility, and in 1982 purchased a second farm. They continue operating two orchards (one in Bethlehem and the other in Kempton, PA), selling their produce at the farm market on Center Street. The current market was built in 1972.
George and Faith are owners of the farm, with son Ben running the general operations in Bethlehem, and son Jake managing the orchard in Kempton.
Their daughter Martha is managing the sales, marketing, advertising and the website. Emily is doing part-time sales.
In addition to growing fruit in their orchards, including 20 varieties of peaches, and operating the farm market, the family also presses apples in the fall and winter months for cider, using a special blend of apples for that perfect, Scholl Orchards flavor.
